UK takes further steps towards ratifying the UPC Agreement
The final legislative steps in the UK's ratification of the Unified Patent Court Agreement appear to be underway. The draft Unified Patent Court (Immunities and Privileges) Order 2017 must be passed before the UK can ratify the UPC Agreement.
The draft Order must be approved by both the House of Commons, the House of Lords and then the Privy Council. A motion to approve the draft Order will be put forward to the House of Commons which will then be debated in the House of Lords, scheduled to take place 6 Decmber 2017.
Final approval will need to be given by the Privy Council, after which the UK will be close to being able to ratify the UPC Agreement.
