US and Japan join system for the international registration of designs

The US and Japan are the latest countries to join the Hague system for the international registration of industrial designs. The system allows a single application to cover all of the member countries. 

Registered designs are intended to protect appearance of, for example, products. For more information see here.

The agreement comes into effect in the US and Japan on the 13th May 2015.
