What's in a name?

The Office for Harmonisation in the Internal Market (OHIM) will change its name to the European Union Intellectual Property Office on March 23rd, 2016.

The name change occurs as a new EU trade mark Regulation (EU) No 2015/2424 of the European Parliament and the Council comes into force. The Amending Regulation was published on 24 December 2015 and is part of the EU trade mark reform legislative package that also includes a replacement EU Trade Mark Directive.

At the same time, the Community trade mark (CTM) will become known as a European Union trade mark (EUTM).
